ProKids Celebrates Six CASA Volunteers Who Changed Children’s Lives

ProKids Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA volunteers) make things happen behind the scenes. They advocate in schools, connect children to medical care and therapeutic services, and report to Hamilton County Juvenile Court on the best interests of the children they serve.

But this month, ProKids reached behind the scenes and celebrated the work of six CASA volunteers whose work has changed the trajectory of children’s lives, one foster child at a time. Named as Darlene Kamine Advocates of the Year were:

  • Pat Goellner of Mason
  • Helen Habbert of Blue Ash
  • Joan Heckard of Downtown
  • Diane Niehaus of Fort Mitchell, Kentucky
  • Bonita Sergent of Colerain Township
  • Tracy Workman of Golf Manor

Stories about their work, and photos of the honorees, are available through the links above. The honorees were celebrated at the annual Fall Fling including donors, other CASA volunteers, staff, family members and friends. The event was sponsored by Alligator Purse in Hyde Park.

ProKids envisions a safe, permanent and nurturing home for every child. As a nonprofit organization in Hamilton County, Ohio, that mobilizes the community by training and supporting volunteers who break the vicious cycle of child abuse and neglect. ProKids Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA volunteers) speak up for abused and neglected children, guiding them to safe environments where they can thrive.
