The Friends of Children Breakfast provides an in-depth look at ProKids, the children and families we serve, and the ways in which our community can help. This year's Breakfast will feature testimonials as well as a presentation by ProKids' Executive Director Tracy Cook. With a focus on individual donations and the impact that support has on ProKids' work and continued growth, the Friends of Children Breakfast will also outline the various ways in which ProKids depends on the community for help.

The first step in becoming involved with ProKids is to attend a Snapshot. Snapshots are one-hour informational sessions that are held weekly at our Mt. Auburn office. Snapshots are free and you will not be asked for a donation.

Chapter 6: Communicating as a CASA
The goal of this class is to practice communication skills for interviewing, working collaboratively with others on the case, and dealing with conflict. Participants will increase their level of understanding of confidentiality issues for CASA volunteers.

Chapter 7: Substance Abuse
The goal of this class is to increase participants' understanding of their ability to assess the family situation of the children with whom they will be working as a CASA volunteer. In particular, participants will consider the issue of substance abuse and how this issue impacts families.

Child Abuse & Neglect - Chapter 9
This class is held at Children's Hospital Medical Center - Mayerson Center. Directions are on the first page of Chapter 9 in your training manual.
Participants will learn definitions, risk factors and indicators associated with child abuse and neglect. We will also discuss Children's Hospital's structure and their procedures for diagnosis and treatment of children who are suspected of being abused & neglected.
