Everything is possible when someone cares
“I wish I knew where my mother was.”–Anderson, age 14
Imagine being taken away from the only family you have ever known because they have violated your trust. Then you are temporarily taken to a strange place to live until a permanent solution can be found. Through the eyes of a child who has been abused or neglected, the world can be a frightening place.
There are more than 2,500 children in foster care in Hamilton County. ProKids’ vision is a safe, permanent and nurturing home for every child. We work to achieve this vision by mobilizing the Greater Cincinnati area community to break the vicious cycle of child abuse and neglect. ProKids helps our community discover the power of investing in the promise of our children. We recruit, train, and support community volunteers to speak up for our children and help guide them to safe environments where they can thrive.
Motivating the community to help these children is highly effective:
- We have doubled the children we serve.
- 99% of children served by ProKids are free from abuse and neglect.
There is a lot more to do. Within the next 5 years, our goal is to get the community’s help to all the children in need. Reaching this vision means breaking a cycle of abuse and neglect, which spans generations, and creating a new cycle of growing up safe and confident. This fundamentally changes the future of our children and our community.
